President Bola Tinubu arrived in Lagos on Friday for a working visit ahead of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, which will be marked in a low-key celebration.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President moved to Lagos after attending the coronation of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, in Oyo State.
During his stay in Lagos, Tinubu is scheduled to hold meetings with private sector leaders and senior government officials. He is also expected to travel to Imo State on Tuesday, September 30, to commission projects executed by Governor Hope Uzodimma.
As part of the Independence Day programme, the President will inaugurate the remodelled National Theatre in Lagos, which has been renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts.
Meanwhile, Tinubu has extended warm greetings to Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners Chapel), on his 71st birthday.
In his message, the President joined Oyedepo’s family, congregants, and the wider Christian community to celebrate the cleric, describing him as a towering figure whose influence spans Nigeria, Africa, and beyond in the areas of spirituality, education, and philanthropy.
Tinubu commended Oyedepo’s discipline, diligence, and vision since establishing his ministry in 1982, highlighting the impact of institutions such as Kingdom Heritage Schools, Faith Academy, Covenant University, and Landmark University on education and human capital development.
He noted that the Bishop’s contributions to nation-building through preaching, teaching, and service remain deeply appreciated, adding that his example continues to inspire faith and discipline across the country.
The President prayed for Oyedepo’s continued health, long life, and wisdom to further uplift individuals, families, and nations through the Word of Faith.
