Lagos State Governor and Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been appointed the All Progressives Congress (APC) Zonal Campaign Coordinator for the South-West ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
The appointment was announced on Saturday in a statement from the Presidency, which unveiled members of the APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will serve as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the council, respectively.
Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, will serve as Director-General and Secretary of the campaign council.
Sanwo-Olu, who previously led the APC Governorship Campaign Council in Ondo State during the 2020 and 2024 elections, will work with party leaders at the national, zonal and state levels to mobilise support for Tinubu across the South-West.
In his new role, Sanwo-Olu will coordinate the president’s re-election campaign across Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states.
His responsibilities will include highlighting the achievements of the Tinubu administration, mobilising political stakeholders and engaging workers, trade unions, students, artisans, businesses and other citizens to strengthen the APC’s support base across the zone.
The campaign council is expected to coordinate activities across the South-West as the APC prepares for the 2027 presidential election.
