Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called on Nigerians to remain patient and supportive of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, assuring that the policies are already producing positive results.
In his Independence Day message on Tuesday, Akpabio congratulated citizens on the country’s 65th anniversary and praised their resilience amid ongoing economic challenges.
“At 65, we are matured and should be working for the unity of the nation and prosperity of our people,” he said. “We salute your resilience, patience and endurance in the last two years. We deeply appreciate your support and understanding.”
He acknowledged the hardship caused by the reforms but urged Nigerians to endure the “temporary discomfort,” stressing that their long-term benefits are beginning to manifest.
Akpabio also commended President Tinubu for his commitment to peace and development, while applauding the National Assembly, the judiciary, and Nigerians at home and abroad for their contributions to nation-building.
“Nigeria is not finished. Do not buy into the mischievous narrative that Nigeria is irredeemable,” the Senate President stated. “We are on the right pedestal, and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is reshaping the country.”
He called for collective support for the reforms, expressing optimism that Nigeria would achieve greater prosperity.
“On behalf of my family, constituents, the 10th Senate and the National Assembly, I congratulate and wish you a peaceful and joyous Independence celebration,” Akpabio said.
