As preparations intensify for the November 8, 2025, Anambra Governorship Election, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, has called on religious leaders and societal influencers to use their platforms to promote peace, unity, and patriotism across the state.
The Police Commissioner made the appeal on Wednesday, October 23, 2025, while receiving the founder of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere (popularly known as Odumeje), who paid a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Awka.
CP Orutugu reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to a peaceful and credible electoral process, noting that leaders with moral and social influence play a crucial role in guiding their followers toward lawful and patriotic conduct during politically sensitive periods.
He urged faith-based organisations to partner with the Police in sensitising their congregations on peaceful participation and adherence to law and order during the elections.
In his response, Prophet Ohanaemere commended the Police Command for its proactive engagement and prayed for divine protection and wisdom for its leadership. He pledged his continuous prayers and support toward achieving peace in the state.
The visit highlights the Command’s emphasis on community-driven, non-kinetic strategies to strengthen public trust and maintain security in Anambra State ahead of the polls.
