PSC Chairman Mourns Festac DPO, CSP Matilda Ngbaronye

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), has expressed deep shock over the sudden death of CSP Matilda Umiah Ngbaronye, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Festac Town Division, Lagos State.
CSP Ngbaronye reportedly passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, following complications from an unsuccessful surgery at a private hospital in Surulere, Lagos.
In a statement signed by the Commission’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC Chairman described the late officer as a dedicated and hardworking member of the Nigeria Police Force, whose service record reflected professionalism and commitment to duty.
“The tributes about the late officer confirm she was a devoted and selfless police officer who served her country with passion and diligence,” Argungu said.
He extended his condolences to the Inspector-General of Police, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, the deceased’s aged mother, and her family members, praying for God to grant her eternal rest.
Argungu further reiterated the Commission’s commitment to improving the welfare and working conditions of police officers across the country, including providing tools and benefits befitting their demanding service.
