No fewer than six people have been killed in a road accident at the NASFAT Junction along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, while two others sustained injuries.
The Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Abeokuta by the sector’s Public Relations Officer, Odunsin Afolabi.
According to the FRSC, the crash involved a Mazda commercial bus and a Volvo truck. Six occupants lost their lives in the accident, while two others were injured.
Afolabi attributed the crash to excessive speed, which led to loss of control.
He said the accident occurred at about 2:36 p.m. on January 1, 2026, and was reported to the FRSC four minutes later. Rescue operatives arrived at the scene at about 2:50 p.m. at the NASFAT Junction on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
Personnel from the Mowe Unit, Ibafo Outpost, and the Ojota Unit Command Ambulance Team, in collaboration with officers of the Motor Traffic Division of the RCCG Police Division and the TRACE Mowe Division, carried out the rescue operation.
The injured victims were taken to Famobis Hospital, Lotto, for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at a morgue.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Corps Commander Akinwumi Fasakin, has ordered a full investigation into the crash to determine all circumstances surrounding the incident.
