The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved additional postgraduate programmes for Atiba University Oyo (AUO), Oyo State, expanding the institution’s academic offerings at the postgraduate level.
In a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Sunday Olawale Okeniyi, and signed by the NUC Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei, the commission approved 11 programmes to be run at the Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s and Doctorate (PhD) levels.
According to the NUC, the approval followed a successful resource verification exercise conducted by panels of experts on the proposed programmes at the university.
The letter stated that the Executive Secretary of the commission had approved the establishment of the full-time mode of the programmes, to be offered at the university’s main campus with effect from the 2025/2026 academic session.
The approved programmes include PGD Accounting; PGD and MSc Business Administration; PGD, MSc and PhD Public Administration; PGD, MSc and PhD Computer Science; MBA Business Administration; MSc and PhD Political Science; MSc and PhD International Relations; MSc and PhD Economics; MSc and PhD Sociology; MSc and PhD English; and MSc Nursing.
Reacting to the approval, the President and Founder of Atiba University Oyo, Dr. James Adesokan Ojebode, congratulated the university community, describing the development as a significant milestone in the institution’s growth and commitment to academic excellence.
