President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to inaugurate six key legacy projects of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu during his first official visit to Lagos State, the Presidential Villa announced.
The two-day visit, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, will see the commissioning of major infrastructure including the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, Lagos State Geographic Information Service (LAGIS) building, and the Lagos Multi-Agency Building in Alausa. Other projects include the Lagos Fresh Food Hub in Abijo, Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, and the Maracana Stadium comprising 19 mini-football pitches.
Speaking at a press briefing in Alausa on Monday, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, described the projects as milestones in the Sanwo-Olu administration’s efforts to improve mobility, economic activity, and social welfare across the state. He added that the projects reflect the importance of continuity in governance and visionary leadership.
Omotoso highlighted the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, originally conceived over 20 years ago during former Governor Bola Tinubu’s tenure and revived in 2022, as a major solution to traffic congestion along the Ojota, Maryland, Mende, Opebi, and Allen corridors, providing a direct connection between Ikeja’s Central Business District and residential areas in Ojota.
The Tolu Schools Complex, comprising 16 senior secondary, 15 junior secondary, and five primary schools, has been fully regenerated under Sanwo-Olu’s administration. Upgrades include 13 new classrooms, a vocational training centre, and facilities for People Living with Disabilities (PLD) with vertical lifts to enhance accessibility.
The newly completed Multi-Agency Building will consolidate various government offices into one integrated environment, while the Lagos Fresh Food Hub in Abijo is designed to enhance food distribution across the Eti Osa corridor. The five-story LAGIS building will serve as a one-stop centre for geospatial mapping, urban planning, and land administration services.
Omotoso assured residents that extensive security, traffic, and logistical measures had been put in place to ensure a smooth and secure event, with over 500 personnel from the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) deployed to manage traffic during the presidential visit.
