Driver Dies in Multiple-Vehicle Crash on Oshodi Road, Lagos

The accident, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), involved a commercial minibus, popularly known as “Korokpe,” and a Toyota Tundra pickup truck with registration number EPE 554 YC.

Preliminary findings at the scene indicated that the minibus driver sustained severe injuries and died instantly due to the impact of the crash.

LASTMA said its operatives, who were on routine patrol in the area, quickly responded to the incident, securing the scene, coordinating emergency efforts, and managing traffic to prevent further congestion along the busy corridor.

The agency’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq, said in a statement posted on X late Tuesday that the remains of the deceased were recovered and later released to his family.

He added that LASTMA personnel also evacuated the wreckage and cleared the vehicles from the road, after which they were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation into the cause of the crash.

According to the agency, traffic flow was restored shortly after the intervention despite initial disruption caused by the accident.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of LASTMA commiserated with the family of the deceased and urged motorists, especially commercial drivers, to exercise caution, comply with traffic regulations, and adopt safer driving practices.
