Zenith Bank Plc has expanded its footprint in Delta State with the commissioning of a new branch in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area, becoming the first commercial bank to establish a presence in the community.
The development underscores the bank’s commitment to promoting financial inclusion and bringing banking services closer to individuals, businesses, and underserved communities.
The branch was officially commissioned on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at a ceremony attended by Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, senior government officials, traditional rulers, members of the business community, customers, and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, Governor Oborevwori described the opening of the branch as a strong endorsement of Delta State’s economic prospects.
According to him, the investment reflects the positive impact of the state government’s efforts in infrastructure development, economic growth, and creating an enabling environment for businesses.
“When a leading financial institution such as Zenith Bank expands its presence in Delta State, it sends a powerful message that Delta State is open for business and ready for greater investment,” the governor said.
He noted that the branch would have a significant impact on the local economy, stressing that it is currently the only bank operating within Okpe Local Government Area.
“The significance of this bank to our people cannot be overemphasised because of the impact it will have on the economy of this local government,” he added.
In her remarks, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, commended Governor Oborevwori for supporting private-sector growth and fostering an investment-friendly environment in the state.
She expressed appreciation to the governor for donating the land on which the branch was built, describing the gesture as a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to encouraging business development and economic expansion.
Umeoji noted that the Osubi branch, the bank’s 19th outlet in Delta State, represents another milestone in Zenith Bank’s long-standing relationship with the state.
She reiterated the bank’s commitment to supporting underserved communities through innovative banking solutions, access to finance, and capacity-building initiatives targeted at individuals, entrepreneurs, women-owned businesses, and small and medium-scale enterprises.
According to her, the new branch is expected to stimulate economic activities in Osubi and neighbouring communities while contributing to the broader socio-economic development of Delta State and Nigeria.
