Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated the Grand Khalifa of Tijaniyya for Lagos State, Sheikh Aminullah Abd’Salam Akoshile, on his 77th birthday.
Sanwo-Olu described Sheikh Akoshile, a member of the Nigeria Council for Islamic Affairs and Amir-ul-Muslim of Oro, Kwara State, as a spiritual father and mentor to millions of Islamic faithful.
The governor, in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, commended the cleric for continuing his late father’s legacy of Islamic scholarship, spiritual leadership and community development.
He also praised Sheikh Akoshile for promoting Sufi heritage while contributing to community leadership, governance and national unity across Lagos State and beyond.
Sanwo-Olu said the cleric had provided spiritual guidance to millions of Tijaniyya adherents in Lagos and remained a strong voice for unity, patience, peaceful coexistence and accountability in public office.
He said Sheikh Akoshile’s teachings encouraged Muslims to respond to national challenges through prayer, dialogue, discipline and peaceful engagement.
The governor said the cleric’s role in strengthening relations between communities and government had contributed to greater understanding and social harmony.
“On behalf of my family, the government and the people of Lagos State, I congratulate the Grand Khalifa of Tijaniyya for Lagos State, Sheikh Aminullah Abd’Salam Akoshile, on his 77th birthday,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He prayed for the cleric’s continued good health, happiness and success as he marks the milestone.
