Cole Palmer Extends Chelsea Deal Until 2034

Chelsea forward Cole Palmer has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the Premier League club until 2034.

The 24-year-old England international was already contracted to Chelsea until 2033, but his improved deal extends his stay at Stamford Bridge by another year.

“Chelsea means a lot to me and I think the club is going in the right direction, so I’m delighted to sign, and I’m obviously very happy,” Palmer said.

“Speaking to the owners, to the sporting directors and obviously the manager, they gave me a lot of confidence, so it was only right to sign.

“Speaking to players as well, everyone has the same ambitions. I feel like we win major trophies here consistently and I want to be a part of that and play a big role in it, too.”

Palmer joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023 and has recorded a combined 91 goals and assists in 138 appearances for the club.

His progress was disrupted last season by a persistent groin problem. He was also controversially omitted from England’s World Cup squad by manager Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel recently said Palmer had “missed too many opportunities” to represent England after withdrawing from the squad for the latest Nations League matches.

However, Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso defended the forward on Friday, saying Palmer remained committed to England and needed to regain full fitness to deliver his best performances for club and country.

Palmer has made a strong start to the current season, scoring four goals in seven appearances across all competitions.

His close relationship with England teammate Morgan Rogers reportedly helped convince the midfielder to join Chelsea from Aston Villa during the summer transfer window.

Palmer’s extension is the latest long-term contract awarded to a Chelsea player, following recent deals for Joao Pedro and Pedro Neto that also run into the 2030s.
