Nigerian businessman and philanthropist Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede has marked his 60th birthday with a reflection on his life, describing the milestone as an opportunity to renew his commitment to faith, family, service and institution-building.
Aig-Imoukhuede, in a message shared on LinkedIn, expressed gratitude to God for life, family, friendships and the opportunity to live a purposeful life.
“Today, I turn 60,” he wrote. “I receive this milestone with profound gratitude to God, for life, for grace, for family, for friendship, and for the privilege of purpose.”
Reflecting on his journey, he identified building institutions, developing people and creating opportunities as recurring themes in his life and career.
“To build institutions. To build people. To build opportunities. To help build a stronger Africa,” he said.
The businessman also acknowledged the role of family, friends, colleagues, partners and mentors in his achievements, saying his accomplishments had never been his alone.
“I have been blessed with extraordinary people who have challenged me, supported me and shared in the work,” he said.
He specifically acknowledged his wife, Ofovwe, their children, family members and other associates, while paying tribute to his late mother, Pastor Emily, and his close partner, Herbert.
Recalling his 50th birthday, when he described himself as “God’s Work in Progress”, Aig-Imoukhuede said the phrase still reflected his outlook a decade later.
“The building continues,” he said.
Rather than viewing 60 as the end of a chapter, he described it as the beginning of another decade of purposeful work and service.
He said he hoped to continue building institutions and opportunities, empowering people and contributing to a stronger Africa, while seeking greater wisdom, strength and grace to serve more intentionally.
