Airtel Nigeria Hikes Data and Call Tariffs Amid Rising Costs

Airtel Nigeria, the country’s second-largest telecommunications operator, has increased its data plan prices and adjusted call tariffs, citing rising operational costs in a challenging economic environment.

Details of the revised pricing were published on Airtel’s official website on Monday. Flamesdigital.ng confirmed the increase through direct checks using the *312# USSD code and Airtel’s website.

According to the updated pricing, the cost of call rates has increased from approximately 18 kobo per second to 25 kobo per second. The adjustments also affect various daily, weekly, and monthly data bundles.

Airtel Nigeria has not yet issued an official statement beyond the pricing update, but analysts suggest that inflationary pressures and currency fluctuations may have contributed to the adjustments.

Customers have expressed mixed reactions, with some acknowledging the inflation-driven increase, while others criticize the move as an additional financial burden amid the rising cost of living in Nigeria.
