Former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has endorsed Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement on Thursday, Ambode congratulated Hamzat on his emergence, describing him as a loyal party man whose consultations reflected commitment to the ideals of the party.
“I join my fellow members of the All Progressives Congress to congratulate my brother and friend… on his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate,” he said.
He said Hamzat’s adoption reflected his loyalty, experience, and long-standing dedication to the party, adding that Lagos would benefit from his wealth of experience.
Ambode also reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging party members to work towards a strong electoral performance for the APC.
“As Lagos APC, our mission should be to deliver at least 3 million votes for Mr. President,” he said, adding that the party must also secure victory for its candidates across the National Assembly.
He expressed confidence that the future of Lagos and Nigeria remained bright under continued APC leadership.
