By Ayomide Otitoju

Anambra State has cemented its position as a leader in technology-driven governance, clinching four awards at the 13th National Council on Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (NCCIDE) conference held from 8 to 12 December 2025 at Jos’s Crispan Suite & Event Centre.

Themed “Accelerating Inclusive Digital Transformation: Bridging Gaps and Fostering Sustainable Growth Through Innovation,” the conference brought together federal and state officials, industry experts, and innovators to evaluate digital progress and explore strategies for nationwide technology-driven growth.

A highlight of the event was the State Innovation Peer Review Session (SIPRS), where states showcased technological breakthroughs and governance improvements. Anambra stood out with presentations emphasizing its strategic use of information and communication technologies to enhance public service delivery.

The state won Best Overall State in ICT Development and Best State in ICT Human Capital Development, while also earning 2nd Runner-Up positions in Infrastructure Development and eGovernment Implementation, demonstrating a comprehensive digital transformation agenda.

Christian Aburime, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, said the awards reflect the governor’s commitment to building a tech-enabled Smart Mega City, highlighting investments in broadband connectivity, e-governance solutions, and ICT skill development initiatives.

Speaking on behalf of the governor, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata (CFA), Managing Director and CEO of the Anambra State ICT Agency, credited the state’s achievements to Governor Soludo’s “Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere” vision, as well as a supportive policy environment fostering innovation.

This marks the second time Anambra has won four top awards at NCCIDE, following a similar performance in 2023, underscoring the state’s sustained excellence in digital governance, infrastructure growth, human capital development, and e-service implementation.
