The All Progressives Congress (APC) has vowed to end the 19-year dominance of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State during the November 8, 2025, governorship election.
APC National Chairman, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, made the declaration on Friday at the party’s campaign rally for its candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, held at the All Saints Anglican Cathedral in Onitsha.
Yilwatda described the APC as “a messenger of hope,” pledging that the party would unseat APGA, which he said had overstayed its welcome in the state.
“The APC will uproot APGA in the next remaining eight days and 196 hours to the election. We cannot allow APGA to continue governing such an important state when we have our own son in Ukachukwu,” he said.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio also pledged support for Ukachukwu, stating that the APC was determined to make Anambra the 25th APC-controlled state.
Ukachukwu, in his remarks, accused APGA of “deceitful nonperformance” and promised to replace insecurity, multiple taxation, and corruption with steady power supply, industrial growth, and agricultural expansion.
Imo State Governor and Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodinma, assured voters that their votes would count, while state APC Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, and Ikemba Front Coordinator, Arinze Awogu, expressed confidence in the party’s victory.
Meanwhile, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, the APGA candidate, dismissed the APC’s campaign efforts, mocking the opposition for launching its campaign just seven days before the election.
Speaking at an APGA rally in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area, Soludo said, “It is shocking for a political party like the APC to flag off its campaign a week before the election. Their candidate is only seeking cheap popularity.”
He urged voters to turn out en masse on election day, declaring that he had no serious challengers.
“What you have seen in the last three years of my administration is proof that we will win again — and we can only win when we all come out and vote,” Soludo said.
