Aston Villa are reportedly considering a move for Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo following their agreement to sell Ezri Konsa to Arsenal for £51 million plus add-ons.
Villa have endured a busy summer, with Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans and Lucas Digne among the players to leave the club. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and striker Ollie Watkins could also depart, while Konsa is now set to complete his move to Arsenal.
Rogers’ transfer to Chelsea was a record sale for Villa, and the relationship between the two clubs could lead to further business this summer.
Villa have already confirmed the loan signing of Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho and could now turn to Tosin as a potential replacement for Konsa.
Tosin worked under Villa manager Unai Emery during his time at Villarreal and could become another Chelsea player to move to Villa Park. The two clubs have previously completed deals involving Ian Maatsen, Jadon Sancho and Axel Disasi as they look to navigate financial regulations.
Chelsea could also benefit financially from Tosin’s departure, with the defender having joined the club on a free transfer from Fulham in 2024.
The former England youth international began his career at Manchester City before joining Fulham in 2020. He moved across London to Chelsea four years later and became one of manager Enzo Maresca’s first signings.
Tosin made 41 appearances in all competitions during his first season at Stamford Bridge but found opportunities more limited last term. His chances could become even more restricted following Chelsea’s reported move for Maxence Lacroix.
Villa’s sale of Konsa is expected to generate £51 million plus potential add-ons, adding to the club’s significant transfer income this summer following their European success and qualification for the Champions League.
Tosin is valued at around €16 million by Transfermarkt.
Villa will begin their Premier League campaign away to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday as they prepare for another season of domestic and European football.
