Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum and Governor of Lagos State, has congratulated elder statesman and leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Reuben Fasoranti, on his 100th birthday.
In a congratulatory message issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu described Pa Fasoranti, who clocks 100 on Monday, May 11, as a committed leader and one of the surviving disciples of late sage Obafemi Awolowo.
The governor praised Pa Fasoranti’s contributions to the growth and development of Yorubaland and Nigeria, noting that his impact in education, leadership and public service remains significant.
According to Sanwo-Olu, the Afenifere leader has distinguished himself as a courageous and principled elder statesman whose commitment to public service, community development, truth, equity, justice and good governance has earned him respect across the South-West and the country.
He said the people of Yorubaland appreciate Pa Fasoranti’s leadership of Afenifere over the years and are proud to celebrate his centenary birthday.
“On behalf of my family, the government and the people of Lagos State, as well as my brother governors in the South-West, I congratulate Afenifere Leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, on his centenary birthday celebration,” Sanwo-Olu said.
