Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed: No One Can Destabilize State

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has firmly stated that no one can destabilize his state in response to comments made by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. Mohammed, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, addressed the matter on Tuesday ahead of a meeting with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) in Bauchi.

“Nobody can set fire in Bauchi State. Bauchi has volumes of water. Even my friend who made those remarks is only speaking out of frustration,” Mohammed said, referencing Wike’s recent statements. He added, “Perhaps I said something that upset him, but it’s not personal. My friend is my friend, my job is my job, and leadership is leadership.”

Governor Mohammed emphasized that internal party conflicts are inevitable, but they are not personal. “None of the parties are insulated from crises here and there, and that is why leadership exists. If we have disagreements, they are not personal. No one should misunderstand us. We are united,” he added, indicating that the party would address these issues in the meeting.

Kamaludeen Ajibade, SAN, the PDP Legal Adviser who led the NWC delegation to Bauchi, explained that the visit was intended to recognize Governor Mohammed’s efforts as chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum. “We are here to salute his courage. A lot has been happening within our party, and we cannot pretend that everything is fine,” Ajibade said, adding that the NWC fully supports the efforts being made by the Governors’ Forum to resolve these issues.

This exchange comes three weeks after Wike accused PDP governors of meddling in the control of the party in Rivers State. In mid-August, PDP governors declared Siminalayi Fubara, Wike’s estranged political ally, as the leader of the party in Rivers, sparking Wike’s displeasure. In response, Wike and his supporters held a congress to consolidate their grip on the Rivers PDP
