In a major political shift, all 21 Local Government Chairmen of the Labour Party (LP) in Kogi State have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), sparking widespread jubilation among APC members. The defectors, who previously held significant influence within the LP, pledged their allegiance to the APC gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman, during a meeting yesterday.
Led by Mr. Kayode Awe, former State Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, the group cited their desire to support Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration and ensure continuity through Ododo’s candidacy. Mr. Awe emphasized that Ododo is the most credible and widely accepted candidate, dismissing opposition parties’ criticisms as baseless.
Mr. Jimba Emmanuel, former Labour Party Chairman in Ibaji Local Government, reinforced the group’s commitment, describing Ododo as a true leader with a strong vision for Kogi State’s future.
Notable attendees included LP chairmen from Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu, Mopa Muro, Yagba East, Yagba West, and other local governments, all united in their support for Ododo’s bid in the upcoming election.
