By Ayomide Otitoju

Nigerian singer and DJ Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, made history as the first British-Nigerian to host an opening session at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola and founder of the Cuppy Foundation, DJ Cuppy anchored the “Summit of the Future – Youth Action Day” session over the weekend, marking a major milestone in her career.

In an Instagram post, DJ Cuppy reflected on her journey, noting that while she has DJed at the UNGA twice, her role in hosting the opening session at the 79th UNGA was her proudest achievement. She highlighted the importance of education, sharing that she holds three university degrees, including one from New York University (NYU), and hinted at the completion of her PhD thesis.

She humorously added, “I’ve interned for Jay-Z, been on Forbes 30 Under 30 twice, and filmed MTV Cribs, but the coolest thing I’ve done by far is speaking to all of you today.”
