Cassava Technologies has announced the appointment of Leah Nakazwe Kooma as Chief Executive Officer of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Zambia, effective April 1, 2026.
The appointment reflects Liquid’s strategic growth ambitions and its commitment to strengthening digital infrastructure leadership in Zambia and across the region.
Kooma brings over 20 years of experience spanning telecommunications, financial services, and media. According to Wellington Makamure, her leadership comes at a critical stage for the company’s expansion plans.
“Leah’s leadership is pivotal at this stage for our Zambia business and the broader region. Her proven ability to deliver results will drive Liquid Zambia’s next phase of growth,” he said.
Kooma began her career at Barclays Bank before moving to Celtel, where she held roles across multiple African markets. She later joined the founding team of Vodafone Zambia in 2016, where she played a key role in launching the country’s first 4G LTE network as Chief Sales and Distribution Officer.
In 2017, she joined MultiChoice Zambia as GOtv Commercial General Manager, rising to Chief Customer Officer and subsequently Managing Director.
Commenting on her appointment, Kooma expressed optimism about the company’s future growth.
She noted that her background in sales, marketing, and customer service has equipped her with a deep understanding of customer needs, as well as the ability to collaborate across diverse markets and cultures.
Kooma holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Development Studies from the University of Zambia and a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Wales. She also serves on several boards, including as Board Chair of the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, and is a member of the Institute of Directors and Business Professional Women International.
Liquid Intelligent Technologies, a business of Cassava Technologies, operates in more than 40 markets across Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
