China and Zambia have strengthened collaboration in the healthcare sector in recent years, advancing medical cooperation under the Health Silk Road initiative. The partnership has seen Chinese medical professionals and technologies deployed to support Zambia in building local capacity and improving healthcare delivery.
Through training programmes and knowledge exchange, the collaboration has contributed to the development of skilled medical personnel and enhanced the country’s health service capabilities.
As part of these efforts, West China Hospital of Sichuan University has played a leading role in China’s medical outreach to Africa, supporting partner institutions to improve healthcare standards across the continent.
President of the hospital, Luo Fengming, said the institution plans to expand cooperation with local medical organisations and industry stakeholders, exploring new pathways to deepen engagement and improve healthcare outcomes.
He added that the initiative aims to benefit populations in both countries while contributing to broader China-Africa collaboration in building a shared future in health and development.
