Comeback from Super Falcons exile: Oparanozie blasts match winner



Come-backing Desire Oparanozie was the match winner for the Super Falcons in a friendly against Slovenian club Olimpija Ljubjana.
Oparanozie, who was frozen out of the Falcons for the past two years after leading a pay strike, hit target from a free kick after 16 minutes.
It proved to be the only goal of this contest, which wrapped up an eight-day training camp in Austria for the African champions.
There were debuts for Leicester City defender Plumptre and US-based goalkeeper Yewande Balogun, while Ngozi Okobi, Ebere Orji and Chiamaka Nnadozie were making their return to the team since October 2019.
Plumtre, the Leicester City defender was given the nod by coach Randy to start the game and she gave very good account of herself, according to reports.
The African champions will now turn their attention to the upcoming Aisha Buhari Invitational Women’s Football Tourney scheduled for September.
The players and officials are now expected leave the Austrian camp to their various clubs on Saturday, July 24.
The Falcons are gearing up for an invitational tournament they will host in September in Lagos.
