Dangote Group, Norwegian Fund Explore Africa Partnership

By Ayomide Otitoju

Aliko Dangote has held a high-level meeting with Nicolai Tangen, the manager of the world’s largest sovereign wealth fund, overseeing assets valued at about $1.9 trillion.

During the meeting, the Norwegian investment institution expressed strong interest in partnering with the Dangote Group to expand investments across Africa, focusing on key sectors such as power, energy, renewables, agriculture, fertiliser and cement.

Also present were Svein Tore Holsether of Yara International and Terje Pilskog of Scatec, underscoring the multi-sector nature of the discussions.

The engagement signals growing international investor confidence in Africa’s industrial and infrastructure potential, as well as the expanding role of the Dangote Group in driving large-scale economic transformation across the continent.

For Dangote Group, the proposed collaboration presents opportunities to deepen investments in critical development sectors, particularly energy transition, food security and industrial expansion.

The Norwegian sovereign wealth fund, widely regarded as a benchmark for global institutional investment, has increasingly turned its attention to emerging markets, with Africa seen as a key frontier for long-term value creation.

Analysts note that a potential partnership between both sides could unlock significant capital inflows into infrastructure and industrial projects, boosting economic growth and regional integration across Africa.
