Chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has named the main access road to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in recognition of his long-standing support for private sector development and economic infrastructure.
The announcement was made on Thursday, June 5, during President Tinubu’s tour of the refinery complex in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos. The visit coincided with the commissioning of the Deep Sea Port Access Road, a strategic route linking the Lekki Free Trade Zone, the Deep Sea Port, and the Dangote Refinery to the Sagamu–Benin Expressway via Ijebu Ode.
Describing the refinery as a realization of a vision initiated during Tinubu’s tenure as Lagos State Governor, Dangote stated, “This complex is, in many ways, your brainchild. Mr. President, the road leading into the refinery will now be known as Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road.”
The announcement drew applause as President Tinubu acknowledged the gesture with a handshake.
Dangote also revealed that despite paying N450 billion in taxes in 2024, the Group is investing N900 billion in road infrastructure across Nigeria under the Federal Government’s tax credit scheme. The company remains the nation’s highest taxpayer, reportedly surpassing the combined tax contributions of Nigeria’s banking sector.
