The highly anticipated Design and Innovation Exhibition 2025 has officially commenced at the Ecobank Pan African Centre (EPAC) in Lagos, attracting a large audience of young innovators, industry leaders, and stakeholders in Nigeria’s creative and manufacturing sectors. The event, running from February 25 to March 2, highlights the nation’s potential in industrial design and craftsmanship.
Founder of Design Week Lagos, Titi Ogufere, emphasized the exhibition’s mission to elevate Nigerian designers onto the global stage, advocating for increased government and financial sector support to enable local creatives to compete in the multi-billion-dollar global design industry.
“This exhibition is a testament to the talent and hard work happening in Nigeria’s creative industries. We’re here to celebrate and showcase the potential of our local designers and manufacturers,” Ogufere stated.
Themed “Building a Made-in-Nigeria Brand,” the exhibition underscores the significance of industrialization and export, positioning Nigeria as a key player in global design markets. Ogufere stressed the need to tap into sectors like the $700 billion global furniture industry, encouraging Nigerian designers to seize international opportunities.
Nigeria’s Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, echoed this sentiment, reinforcing the government’s commitment to fostering stronger ties between creativity and manufacturing.
“By leveraging our country’s rich creative resources, we can modernize products, promote locally-made furniture, and build stronger economic connections,” Musawa remarked.
Also speaking at the event, Bolaji Lawal, Managing Director of Ecobank Nigeria, represented by Omoboye Odu, Head of SME, Partnerships, and Collaboration, reiterated the bank’s commitment to supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
“The success of SMEs is key to transforming Nigeria’s economy. We recognize the importance of collaborating with the right partners to help scale Nigerian creatives and their businesses,” he said.
With 58 designers showcasing their works—many in collaboration with local manufacturers—the exhibition offers a glimpse into the future of Nigerian innovation and design.
