The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday handed over ₦3.94 billion in recovered funds to NNPC Limited, following investigations into fraudulent activities linked to some officials of the company.

The funds were presented on behalf of EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, by the Commission’s Secretary, Mohammed Hammajoda, during a ceremony at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking at the event, Hammajoda reaffirmed the EFCC’s commitment to combating economic and financial crimes, noting that the recovery was achieved through thorough investigations and the uncovering of fraudulent transactions involving certain actors within NNPC.

He added that the Commission remains resolute in its mandate despite the risks faced by its personnel, pledging continued service in the national interest.

Receiving the funds on behalf of NNPC, Executive Vice President, Downstream, Mumuni Dagazau, commended the EFCC for its support, describing the recovery as a reflection of institutional cooperation and accountability.

Dagazau noted that NNPC remains committed to strengthening its internal systems and would continue to collaborate with the EFCC to address financial irregularities.

The handover underscores ongoing efforts by anti-corruption agencies and public institutions to promote transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
