The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has attributed the ongoing poor power supply in Lagos to a fault on the 330kV transmission lines supplying electricity to the region.
In a statement issued on Monday, EKEDC explained that reduced power allocation from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has necessitated load-shedding across its distribution network.
“This is to kindly update you that we are still experiencing reduced power allocation from our TCN partners due to faults on the 330kV lines feeding the Lagos region,” the company stated.
EKEDC assured customers that efforts are underway to restore normal supply, emphasizing its collaboration with TCN and other stakeholders to resolve the issue.
“Rest assured that we are taking all necessary steps to address the situation as we work closely with TCN and other partners to resolve the issue and ensure a more stable power supply soonest,” the statement added.
However, the company did not provide a specific timeline for full restoration of electricity.
The latest disruption follows a series of power supply challenges in Lagos, which have worsened since last week, leaving many residents and businesses grappling with inconsistent electricity.
