The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, on Thursday visited the kilometre zero of the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to the timely delivery of the strategic infrastructure.
Ekpo was accompanied by the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, and the company’s Executive Vice President for Gas, Power and New Energy, Olalekan Ogunleye.
During the tour of the project’s starting point, the minister said the AKK Pipeline, upon completion, would unlock significant economic opportunities, enhance power generation and accelerate national industrialisation. He described the project as critical to strengthening Nigeria’s energy and economic security.
Speaking at the site, Ojulari said the AKK Pipeline represents a pathway to tangible national development, linking Nigeria’s industrial heritage with a renewed future driven by natural gas as a transition fuel. He noted that the project is expected to play a key role in supporting industrial growth and energy access across the country.
The visit, according to NNPC Limited, underscores the commitment of the Federal Government and the national oil company to delivering the AKK Gas Pipeline, a project of major strategic importance to Nigeria’s long-term development.
