Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to advancing reforms and attracting investment into the state’s power and maritime sectors to stimulate economic growth.
The governor made this known at Victor Attah International Airport while addressing Government House correspondents upon his return from the United Kingdom, where he accompanied Bola Tinubu on a state visit.
Eno disclosed that the trip provided an opportunity to engage with potential investors, particularly in the power sector, expressing optimism that the interactions would yield positive outcomes for the state.
He noted that his administration has made significant progress in repositioning the power sector, while also intensifying efforts to actualise the Ibom Deep Seaport project.
According to the governor, both initiatives require sustained effort and due process to achieve lasting results.
“We expect something good from the interaction. It takes a lot of work, whether it is Ibom Deep Seaport or power; it is not a walk in the park,” he said.
The governor also expressed concern over the current nationwide power outage, reaffirming his administration’s resolve to improve electricity supply within the state.
On the seaport project, Eno appealed for patience from residents, noting that the government has completed payment for feasibility studies and is actively engaging investors to move the project forward.
He emphasized that while progress may be gradual, the administration remains focused on delivering the projects, adding that growing investor interest signals positive momentum for both the power sector and the Ibom Deep Seaport initiative.
