Fidelity Bank Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to community development and social welfare with a comprehensive intervention at Heritage Homes Orphanage in Anthony Village, Lagos.
The initiative was carried out under the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme (FHHP), the bank’s employee-led corporate social responsibility scheme that enables staff to identify community needs, raise funds, and receive matching support from the bank to execute impactful projects.
The outreach, led by the bank’s Audacious Class of newly inducted employees, included the renovation of damaged roofing and POP ceilings, fumigation of the facility, provision of food supplies, and payment of school fees for some of the children at the orphanage.
Speaking during the outreach, Fidelity Bank’s Divisional Head of Brand and Communications, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, said the programme reflects the bank’s commitment to empowering employees to make meaningful contributions to their communities.
“This is what the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme is about. It gives our employees the opportunity to contribute their time, resources and talents towards improving lives in the communities where we operate,” he said.
According to Nwagboh, the Audacious Class identified the orphanage’s most urgent needs and implemented interventions focused on infrastructure, education and welfare.
He said the initiative aligns with the bank’s goal of delivering sustainable community impact.
“Today, these children have a secure roof over their heads, access to essential food supplies and the assurance that their education will continue. This is the kind of sustainable impact the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme was designed to achieve,” he added.
Reacting to the intervention, Assistant General Manager of Heritage Homes Orphanage, Irene Light, described the support as timely and life-changing.
She thanked Fidelity Bank for renovating the facility, fumigating the premises, donating food items and paying school fees for some of the children.
“Their generosity has brought relief, comfort and renewed hope to everyone in this home,” she said.
Light noted that the intervention would improve the living conditions of the children and provide a safer environment for their growth and development.
