Globacom Partners Ondo State to Drive Digital Transformation

By Ayomide Otitoju

Telecommunications giant Globacom has entered into a partnership with the Ondo State Government to deploy digital solutions designed to boost governance, efficiency, and socio-economic development.

At a strategic meeting in Akure, Globacom’s Group Lead, Enterprise Business, Mr. Adeniyi Odejobi, presented the company’s offerings to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and senior state officials.

Under the agreement, Globacom will provide a Learning Management System (LMS) for secondary and tertiary students, supported by Glo Share, which allows zero-rated access so learners can study online without using personal data. Citizens will also enjoy free data access when making payments on Ondo State’s digital payment platform.

The collaboration further includes a Glo surveillance solution with facial biometrics, a traffic management system to curb crime, and a vehicle-tracking service to prevent theft and misuse of government assets. Public servants will also benefit from free closed-user group lines to enable seamless communication across ministries, departments, and agencies.

Governor Aiyedatiwa welcomed the initiative, noting that it aligns with his administration’s drive to embrace innovation for better governance. He said the partnership would reduce bureaucracy, improve efficiency, and limit human interference in state processes.

He also commended Globacom for its pioneering role in revolutionizing Nigeria’s telecommunications industry and making mobile telephony accessible to millions of citizens.
