Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun visited the state office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abeokuta to offer his condolences to staff members following the passing of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Barrister Niyi Ijalaye.
During his address, Governor Abiodun praised the late REC for his unwavering commitment to integrity and truth. He described Ijalaye as a man of impact, known for his amiable, soft-spoken, and humble demeanor. The governor highlighted Ijalaye’s dedication to upholding democracy in Ogun State, emphasizing that his contributions were instrumental in ensuring fair and just electoral processes.
“The passing of Barrister Niyi Ijalaye is a deeply painful loss,” Abiodun remarked. “His meticulous approach and steadfast commitment to democracy in our state will be sorely missed. I recall his calm and determined efforts during the election period to ensure that the right decisions were made and that justice prevailed.”
In response, Rabiat Titilayo Akinola, the Director of Finance and Accounts at INEC Ogun State, expressed gratitude for the governor’s visit and called for the state government’s support for both the family of the deceased and the commission during this difficult time.
