The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a shift in the commencement date for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration. Originally scheduled to begin on Friday, January 31, 2025, registration will now start on Monday, February 3, 2025.
JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin confirmed the development in a statement on Friday, explaining that the delay is necessary to implement crucial adjustments to the registration process.
According to Benjamin, the changes stem from the recent suspension of law programmes in select universities by the Council of Legal Education (CLE). Additionally, JAMB discovered that some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres had gained accreditation through deceptive means, necessitating further scrutiny and de-approval of such centres.
“The Board acknowledges the disruption this may cause to candidates and other stakeholders and sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience,” the statement read. JAMB assured that the additional time would allow for the smooth execution of the registration process.
Earlier, JAMB had announced that it would not conduct admissions for law programmes in universities where the CLE had suspended the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme for the 2025/2026 academic session. Furthermore, the Nigerian Police Academy remains barred from offering law admissions until the 2026/2027 session.

Candidates seeking admission into law programmes at the affected universities will have to consider alternative institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session. JAMB has assured that it will continue working with relevant authorities to ensure a seamless admission process for all candidates.
