Former Borno State Governor Ali Modu Sheriff has suggested that Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, may soon return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and secure the party’s 2027 presidential ticket.
Sheriff made the comment during an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today, claiming credible information suggests Obi will leave the ADC-led opposition coalition and return to the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Information available to me is that any moment from now, Obi would go back to the PDP and run as a presidential candidate,” Sheriff said.
He added that PDP figures such as Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president, and Rotimi Amaechi are also being considered, but questioned which states they currently control.
