JMG Limited has called for stronger action on environmental conservation, responsible waste management and clean energy as organisations across the world mark World Cleanup Day.
The electro-mechanical company said this year’s observance, held on September 20 under the theme, “From Clean Plates to Clean Cities,” highlights the need to address food waste, responsible consumption, the circular economy and sustainable urban waste management.
JMG said the focus aligns with its sustainability strategy, which combines community environmental initiatives with cleaner and more efficient energy solutions.
The company cited its participation in a community clean-up exercise in Gbagada, Lagos, last year as part of its environmental efforts. Its management and employees joined residents to remove waste, promote proper waste separation and encourage shared responsibility for environmental protection.
JMG said its environmental efforts also extend to clean energy solutions that enable organisations to adopt more reliable alternatives to conventional power sources.
One example is the company’s solar hybrid power installation at the Agboyi-Ketu Primary Health Care Centre in Lagos, which provides electricity for critical services, including emergency care, maternity services, immunisation and diagnostics.
Commenting on the company’s sustainability approach, JMG’s Chief Commercial Officer, Rabi Jammal, said the company’s strategy was centred on using innovation and technology to support communities and protect the environment.
“At JMG, our approach to sustainability is deeply human-centred, with a responsibility to apply innovation and technology,” Jammal said.
The company urged businesses, communities and individuals to look beyond visible pollution and address the practices and systems that contribute to environmental challenges.
JMG provides engineering solutions and services across power generation, electrical infrastructure, vertical transportation, cooling systems and air compressors.
Through its solar and hybrid energy solutions, the company said it remains focused on supporting sustainable development, empowering communities and contributing to Nigeria’s industrial growth.
