JMG Solar Projects to Save Businesses ₦152m Yearly

By Ayomide Otitoju

JMG Limited has commissioned two hybrid solar power projects expected to save businesses more than ₦152 million annually in diesel costs while improving power reliability and reducing carbon emissions.

The projects, completed in the third quarter of 2026, include a 133.12kWp installation for La Chaumiere Group and a 66kWp system at JMG’s Victoria Island branch in Lagos.

At La Chaumiere Group, a premium culinary and hospitality company, JMG installed a hybrid solar system comprising 133.12kWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity, 160kW of hybrid inverters and 163.84kWh of high-voltage lithium battery storage.

The system is projected to generate approximately 210.86MWh of clean electricity annually, reduce diesel consumption by about 57,000 litres and deliver estimated annual fuel savings of more than ₦102 million. It is also expected to prevent over 76 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions yearly.

Similarly, JMG’s Victoria Island branch now operates a 66kWp hybrid solar system equipped with 80kW of hybrid inverter capacity and 81.92kWh of lithium battery storage.

The installation is expected to generate approximately 94.8MWh of clean energy annually, meet about 80 per cent of the branch’s energy requirements and cut diesel consumption by around 28,000 litres yearly.

JMG estimates that the system will save approximately ₦50 million annually in fuel costs while avoiding more than 37 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

According to the company, both projects were designed using detailed load analysis and PVsyst simulation to determine the appropriate system capacity for each location.

The installations feature LONGi solar modules, Deye hybrid inverters and Deye high-voltage lithium battery storage, combining solar power generation with energy storage and intelligent energy management.

Hussein Abbas, Head of Solar Division at JMG Limited, said the projects demonstrate how renewable energy can help businesses reduce operating costs while improving power reliability.

“Businesses need power they can depend on, but they also need solutions that make financial sense. These projects demonstrate that reliability, cost savings and sustainability do not have to be competing priorities,” he said.

Abbas added that appropriately designed systems could help businesses reduce their dependence on diesel, lower energy costs and build more sustainable power infrastructure.

He said JMG was also deploying the technology within its own operations to demonstrate its practical benefits to customers.

The Victoria Island installation will serve as a demonstration facility where customers, consultants and project developers can observe the hybrid solar system in operation and assess its potential application to their businesses.

The projects highlight the potential of hybrid solar solutions to help Nigerian businesses manage rising energy costs, improve operational efficiency and reduce their environmental impact.

JMG provides turnkey solar and hybrid power solutions tailored to businesses’ energy requirements.
