In a move to strengthen community-based policing and foster peace in Kano State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, paid a courtesy visit on Thursday to prominent Islamic leaders, including the Coalition of Ulama led by Prof. Musa Borodo, the Shura Committee of Tijjaniyya under Sheikh Khalifa Sani Shehu Mai Hula, and Gidan Qadiriyya, headed by Halifa Sheikh Dr. Qaribullah Nasiru Kabara.
The visit aligns with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to deepen community engagement as part of efforts to ensure a peaceful and secure Kano State.
CP Garba Seeks Partnership in Promoting Peace
Addressing the religious leaders, CP Garba commended their efforts in promoting societal harmony through their teachings and advocacy.
“I deemed it necessary to visit and express my gratitude for your vital roles in fostering peace, public enlightenment, and adherence to societal morals. Your efforts have positively shaped public opinion, and I urge you to continue disseminating messages that will sustain peace and order in Kano State,” he said.
The Commissioner also solicited continued prayers, support, and collaboration from the religious leaders, emphasizing their critical role in ensuring the development and stability of the state.
Leaders Pledge Support for Peace Initiatives
In response, the religious leaders expressed appreciation for the visit and lauded the Kano State Police Command under CP Garba’s leadership for its proactive measures in addressing security challenges.
“We commend your efforts in tackling insecurity and ensuring peace in the state despite the challenges. Be assured of our maximum cooperation for the overall stability of Kano State,” they stated.

The visit underscores the Kano State Police Command’s commitment to building trust and collaboration with community stakeholders as a cornerstone of its strategy to maintain law and order in the state.
