The Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Mohammed Usman Zuru, has died.
His death was confirmed on Monday in a statement issued by his aide, Murtala Diri, who disclosed that the lawmaker passed away in the evening while receiving medical treatment in Cairo.
Zuru, who represented Zuru Constituency, served as Speaker of the 10th Assembly and was a prominent political figure from the Zuru Emirate.
The statement described his death as a significant loss to his constituents, the state legislature, the political class, and Kebbi State at large.
Until his passing, he was regarded as one of the leading voices in the state’s legislative arm, where he played a key role in lawmaking and governance.
Details of burial arrangements and official condolences are expected to be announced by the Kebbi State Government and his family.
