The Security Adviser to Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, Jerry Omodara, has raised concerns over the alleged involvement of some Okun indigenes in aiding bandit activities in the state.
In a statement, Omodara claimed that at least seven youths in Okun land are on the payroll of bandits, while some women are allegedly supplying them with food and vital information.
“There are people in Yagba West who paid the bandits money so that they wouldn’t be kidnapped. We will expose such people at the appropriate time because enough is enough,” he said.
According to him, youths in the area have allegedly been used to transport weapons and ammunition on motorcycles, while some women are accused of smuggling supplies from the far north to sustain the criminals.
He further alleged that some women had engaged in relationships with the bandits, providing cover and support for their activities.
Omodara warned that the state government would treat any youth caught collaborating with bandits as part of the criminal network.
