Lafarge Africa on Tuesday marked the culmination of a four-month vocational and entrepreneurial training program for 100 individuals living with disabilities under its Disability to Ability (D2A) initiative. The graduation ceremony celebrated participants who dedicated their time and effort to learning market-relevant skills aimed at enhancing their livelihoods and economic independence.
The program was executed in partnership with Tunde Onakoya, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), and the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development. Beneficiaries received training in four vocational areas: phone and laptop repair, wig and braid making, makeup and gele, and shoe and bag making.
At the ceremony, Lafarge Africa emphasized its commitment to inclusion across all levels of the organization, highlighting that building the future extends beyond infrastructure to developing the people around them.
The company expressed gratitude to its management team and dignitaries, including Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende; Executive Secretary, LSETF, Feyisayo Alayande; Permanent Secretary, Wealth Creation and Employment, Ololade Aina; and Permanent Secretary, Youth and Social Development, Oluwatoyin Oke-Osanyitolu, for their support and collaboration in making the initiative a success.
