Joseph Tegbe, Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), joined over 500 global delegates at the inaugural assembly of the World Data Organization (WDO) in Beijing, a gathering aimed at strengthening international coordination on data governance and the digital economy.
Accompanied by NCSP Head of International Relations, Ms. Judy Melifonwu, Tegbe’s participation highlights Nigeria’s strategic engagement in global digital cooperation, particularly within the framework of its bilateral relations with China. His presence underscores Nigeria’s intent to play an active role in shaping international standards on data access, utilization, and security.
The assembly featured a keynote address by Ding Xuexiang on behalf of President Xi Jinping, emphasizing the need for coordinated global action to unlock the value of data while ensuring security, inclusiveness, and trust in the digital economy.
For Nigeria, the event provides opportunities to engage in global data governance discussions, strengthen digital infrastructure collaboration with China, and open pathways for investment, knowledge exchange, and talent development in the emerging global digital ecosystem.
With the establishment of the WDO, international collaboration on digital transformation enters a new phase, and Tegbe’s participation positions the NCSP at the forefront of aligning Nigeria’s strategic interests with evolving global opportunities in data and technology.
