Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has reinforced his administration’s commitment to making the state the safest in Nigeria by inaugurating a new batch of advanced security equipment funded through the Enugu State Security Trust Fund.
The assets unveiled on Monday include two high-tech drones, ten Hilux patrol vans, 400 ballistic helmets, and 400 bullet-proof vests.
At the ceremony, Governor Mbah said the new equipment builds on existing investments, including the ultra-modern Command and Control Centre, a statewide network of AI-enabled surveillance cameras, and over 150 Distress Response Squad vehicles equipped with embedded AI systems.
“We can confidently say that violent crimes have been reduced by over 80 per cent in Enugu State,” he said. “But we are not resting on our laurels because the criminals we are dealing with are not resting. Security is one area where even a single breach can undermine all the successes you have achieved.”
He emphasised that the administration will continue to invest in technology and infrastructure to empower security agencies for both crime prevention and rapid response, while maintaining close collaboration with the Federal Government to safeguard communities.
Governor Mbah also expressed gratitude to the Trustees of the Enugu State Security Trust Fund for their unwavering support, assuring residents that Enugu will remain “the safest place to live, work, and invest.”
