Pan-African film and television training institution, MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF), has opened applications for its 2026 intake, offering fully funded courses to African graduates aspiring to become directors, filmmakers, scriptwriters, producers, and storytellers.
Following its recent integration with CANAL+, MultiChoice is reinforcing its commitment to bringing compelling African content to homes across the continent by empowering young creatives with filmmaking and storytelling skills. The 2026 programme is designed to give young Africans the tools to amplify Africa’s voice on the global stage.
The nine-month, fully accredited programme combines online learning with intensive in-person training at MTF academies in Kenya, Nigeria, and Zambia. The curriculum balances theoretical knowledge with practical immersion, offering students from 14 African countries hands-on training, industry exposure, and access to professional networks.
Since its inception in 2018, MTF has trained 296 filmmakers, with graduates producing over 42 films. Students gain insights into the business of filmmaking and are required to produce their own projects, which are aired on DStv and GOtv channels—including Maisha Magic, Zambezi Magic, and Africa Magic—and on Showmax.
MTF alumni enjoy strong career prospects, with many working within the MultiChoice ecosystem or launching their own ventures; more than 50 production companies have been established by graduates. The programme’s focus on hyperlocal content has resulted in numerous accolades, including awards at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), Kalasha Awards, Uganda Film Festival, and Women in Film Awards. Alumni also participate in global industry events such as the European Film Market and Durban FilmMart.
By equipping graduates with high-level skills and industry experience, MTF continues to foster authentic African storytelling while promoting economic growth and cultural development across the continent.
