The 10th edition of Nigeria Mining Week is set to return to Abuja from October 13 to 15, with new forums and strategic platforms aimed at deepening dialogue, attracting investment, and strengthening Nigeria’s position in the global mining industry. Themed “Nigeria Mining: From Progress to Global Relevance,” the conference will feature discussions on steel, gold, gemstones, quarrying, and power, alongside special sessions such as the Kaduna State Deal Room and the Women in Extractive Industries Forum.
Hosted by the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development and organised by the Miners Association of Nigeria in partnership with PwC Nigeria and VUKA Group, the event will gather government officials, investors, and industry leaders to chart the next phase of growth for Nigeria’s mining sector.
Habeeb Jaiyeola, Partner and Head of Mining Sector at PwC Nigeria, said the forum has become the leading platform for shaping policy and investment in the industry. “Over the past decade, Nigeria Mining Week has consistently driven dialogue, built consensus, and crafted solutions that position mining as a true engine of shared prosperity. This year’s edition will not only showcase milestones but also address challenges and propose actionable solutions for sustainable growth,” he stated.
VUKA Group’s Event Director, Samukelo Madlabane, described the 10th edition as a “milestone” reflecting the maturity of Nigeria’s extractive sector. “The traditional anniversary gift is tin and aluminium—symbols of durability and flexibility. Fittingly, Nigeria remains a leading tin producer with significant reserves in the Jos Plateau,” he noted.
A highlight of this year’s event is the Kaduna State Deal Room, which will provide a private setting for pre-arranged, high-level meetings between investors, project owners, and industry leaders to seal transformative agreements. Other new additions include dedicated forums for quarrying, steel, power, gemstones, and gender inclusion in the extractive industries.
The Gold Forum will spotlight reforms and investments positioning Nigeria as an emerging West African gold hub, while the Quarrying Forum will focus on sustainability and technology in infrastructure development. The Steel Forum will examine opportunities to boost local production and reduce import dependence. The Gemstones Forum will promote Nigeria as a potential global centre for gemstone mining and trading.
The Women in Extractive Industries Forum will celebrate women’s contributions to the sector while advancing discussions on equity, leadership, and access to finance.
Over the years, Nigeria Mining Week has evolved into a major deal-making and networking platform for the extractive sector. Organisers say the expanded programme underscores the event’s mission of aligning Nigeria’s mining industry with its ambition of achieving a $1 trillion economy by 2030.
