The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd has strongly dismissed allegations circulating in a viral video that its fuel lacks durability. In a statement released on Sunday, the company described the claims as “false and misleading,” asserting that they stem from unverified research devoid of credibility or professional oversight.
NNPC Ltd reaffirmed that its fuel is formulated with high-quality composition to ensure efficiency, longevity, and environmental sustainability. The company further clarified that a significant portion of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) sold at its retail stations in Lagos—where the contentious video originated—is sourced from the Dangote Refinery. As a key industry partner, the refinery adheres to strict quality standards, ensuring the supply of premium-grade petroleum products to consumers.
Denouncing the video as an attempt by economic saboteurs to mislead the public and damage its reputation, NNPC Ltd warned that it will no longer tolerate deliberate misinformation. The company announced plans to pursue legal action against individuals or groups found spreading falsehoods about its operations.
NNPC Ltd urged Nigerians to disregard the misleading content and rely on verified sources for accurate information. The company reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring fuel availability, affordability, and adherence to global industry standards.
