The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has launched the Women in NNPC (WIN) initiative, a strategic programme aimed at promoting workplace inclusion and expanding leadership opportunities for women within the organisation and Nigeria’s broader energy sector.
The initiative was officially unveiled at the NNPC Towers in Abuja, where company executives described it as a structured platform designed to support, mentor and develop female professionals across the organisation.
According to the company, the WIN initiative seeks to attract, retain and develop exceptional female talent while fostering a supportive environment where women can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the company’s long-term growth.
Speaking at the launch, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, described the initiative as a strategic investment in the company’s workforce.
He emphasised that the programme is intended to strengthen readiness and remove barriers that may hinder women’s advancement in the workplace.
“WIN does not replace merit. It strengthens readiness. It does not create advantage. It removes unintended barriers. And most importantly, it does not divide us. It connects us,” Ojulari said, adding that the success of women in the organisation would ultimately strengthen the company and the nation.
The launch event featured a panel discussion themed “Winning in the Sector: Women Shaping Nigeria’s Energy Future on Their Own Terms,” where senior leaders shared insights on resilience, mentorship and leadership within the energy industry.
A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the WIN logo, coordinated by the Executive Vice President, Business Services, Sophia Mbakwe.
NNPC Ltd said the initiative aligns with global best practices on diversity and inclusion and reflects the company’s commitment to building a stronger and more innovative energy sector in Nigeria.
