The Ogun State High Court sitting in Sagamu has issued two interim injunctions restraining Governor Dapo Abiodun and three senior officials from demolishing or interfering with properties linked to former governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel.
Justice O.S. Oloyede granted the orders on Tuesday in separate suits after ex-parte applications were filed against Governor Abiodun; Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN; the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority; and Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Olatunji Odunlami.
In the first suit (No. HCS/371/2025), Daniel and his wife, Yeye Olufunke Daniel, sought protection for Asoludero Court, a 1,659-hectare estate in Sagamu GRA, after the state government issued an August 8 quit notice threatening demolition. Court filings stated that multiple contravention, quit, sealing, and demolition notices had been pasted on the property. While the government later withdrew the sealing and demolition notices pending document submission, the couple approached the court for an injunction.
Justice Oloyede ruled that the defendants were “restrained from demolishing, trespassing on, or disturbing” the claimants’ possession pending determination of the motion on notice, and adjourned the matter to August 19 for hearing.
In the second suit (No. HCS/372/2025), Conference Hotel Limited and Blue Chapel Limited — also linked to Daniel — secured similar protection for the multi-billion-naira Conference Hotel in Sagamu. Their counsel argued that the hotel’s April 8, 2004 Certificate of Occupancy remained valid despite government claims.
The court ordered all parties to maintain the status quo as of August 8, the date the alleged demolition notices were posted, pending the next hearing.
